How It Started:
Most educators will tell you that they knew they wanted to become a teacher from the time they were little, but that was not the case for me. Education was really not on my radar. After graduating high school, I began working with children at a local YMCA summer camp and, thus my love of children and teaching began!
Experience:
I began my career at Oxford Elementary in fourth grade after graduating from UNC-Charlotte. I have taught grades 3-5 with the majority of my teaching career in fourth grade. I obtained a Masters in Library Science from Appalachian State University in 2008 and National Board Certification in 2010, renewal in 2019. In 2022, I completed a post-Master's certificate in School Administration from UNC-Greensboro. After 20 years at Oxford in the elementary classroom, I served as an instructional coach for Catawba County Schools for the 2023-2024 school year. I began my career in school administration at Tuttle in 2024.
